Wolfsburg hosts RB Leipzig
Wolfsburg hosts RB Leipzig at the Volkswagen Arena in a pretty important game from the 25th round of the Bundesliga. Both teams are currently in the Top 7 of the league, so this fixture could lead to some important consequences. Let’s take a look.
Let’s start with the visitors. RB Leipzig are doing a great season so far, currently being 2nd in the Bundesliga with 49 points. The Red Bulls are just three points behind the leader Bayern Munich and just one point ahead of the third Borussia Dortmund. Even if they don’t win the Bundesliga title for a first time, they are still in a good position to chase a strong finish in the league and a return to the Champions League.
RB Leipzig are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Bundesliga, which shows that the team is in a good shape right now. Last week Julian Nagelsmann’s boys made their 7th draw for the season. Leipzig hosted Bayer Leverkusen at the Red Bull Arena, but missed the opportunity to win and the match ended 1-1. Leon Bailey opened the score for Leverkusen, but the Czech international Patrick Schick equalised for the Red Bulls.
Wolfsburg on the other hand are having an okay season so far. The Wolves are 7th in the league with 35 points, which is just one point behind the 6th Schalke 04 and the Europa League zone. Just like their next opponent RB Leipzig, Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their last five games in the Bundesliga – three wins and two draws.
Last week Wolfsburg won a point at a tricky ground – the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei in Berling. Oliver Glasner’s team visited Union Berlin and got back at home with a point after a 2-2 draw. Union had a clear lead of two goals, but the Wolves fought back with goals from Yannick Gerhardt and Wout Weghorst.
That’s our preview for the Bundesliga fixture between Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig on Saturday. We expect a great game here.
