Real Madrid – PSG
Real Madrid hosts PSG at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in a first UEFA Champions League 1/8-finals clash between these European giants.
The current champion in the competition is facing one of the big favourites to win it. Last season Real Madrid became the first club in the history of the Champions League, who successfully defended the trophy. Now the Los Blancos would like to do history again, winning it for a third consecutive time.
But can they really do it? This season is very difficult for Real Madrid. The club is struggling in La Liga, already losing its chances to beat Barcelona for the title. Zinedine Zidane’s team was kicked out from the Copa del Rey as well. It’s a rare thing to see Madrid having so many difficulties, so the Champions League remains their only hope for something big this season.
Meanwhile for PSG everything is going fine this season. The Parisians are dominating the French Ligue 1 and they dominated their Champions League group as well. After bringing in players like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Dani Alves in the summer, PSG’s goal is clear – to win the trophy for a first time in their history.
It’s obvious that we are having some amazing offensive clashes in this game. Real Madrid will have Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale on the pitch, while PSG will answer with Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe. Most probably these players will decide the game, because they are usually doing it so far in the season.
Zinedine Zidane knows that he’s going to be sacked if he doesn’t win the Champions League. And the same thing could be said about PSG’s Unai Emery. This makes their duel even more interesting.
One thing we know – Real Madrid and PSG will offer us some great football.
