Olympique Lyonnais – Olympique Marseille
Olympique Lyonnais hosts Olympique Marseille in the most interesting game from the 6th round of the French Ligue 1. Let’s take a look at this game.
Olympique Lyonnais had a troubling start of the new season. Right now they are 11th in the league standings with 7 points and a record of two wins, one draw and two defeats. For a team which finished third last season and qualified for the Champions League, we expected a little bit of a better start.
In the previous round Lyonnais made a dissapointing 2-2 draw during the visit to Caen. Nabil Fekir and Ferland Mendy scored for the visiting team, but it was not enough for the win.
But we shall mention that during the week Lyonnais made something impressive in the Champions League, winning against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Gnaly Cornet and Nabil Fekir scored the winning goals for the French side. Bernardo Silva scored once for City, but Lyonnais’ defense did not allow anything more to happen.
Olympique Marseille had a little bit better start, currently being 5th in the standings with 10 points won. Marseille’s record so far shows three wins, one draw and one defeat. A win against Lyonnais could move Marseille up to the Top 3 of the Ligue 1. Right now they have a record of three wins, one draw and one loss.
In their previous game Marseille achieved a second consecutive win in the Ligue 1, beating Guingamp with 4-0 at home. Florian Thauvin scored a brace, while Payet and Mitroglou also scored for the win.
During the week Olympique Marseille had a game in the Europa League, achieving a 2-1 win during the visit to Eintracht Frankfurt.
These are our thoughts about the Ligue 1 clash between Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique Marseille. Good luck.
