Newcastle United – Liverpool
Liverpool finally won the Premier League title after 30 years of waiting. On Sunday the new champions will finish their season with a visit to Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park. Let’s preview this fixture in the next few paragraphs.
Few days ago Liverpool already celebrated their trophy. The Reds had an exciting game against Chelsea at the Anfield which they won with 5-3. It was as dramatic as it could get. Keita, Alexander-Arnold and Wijnaldum scored for Liverpool in the first half, while Firmino and Oxlade-Chamberlain added two goals after the halftime break.
It’d be interesting to see Liverpool’s motivation for this match. After the visit to Newcastle the players will go on their holidays because they are not in the Champions League race anymore. We won’t be surprised if we see the Reds more laid back than usual against the Magpies. But it would be completely normal thing, of course.
Newcastle United on the other hand are 13th in the Premier League and most probably they are going to be satisfied with their season. It was not a terrific campaign for Steve Bruce’s team, but at the beginning of the season the main goal was just survival. The truth is Newcastle did it, so they can be happy.
In their last match in the league Newcastle United made their 11th draw since the beginning of the season. The Magpies faced Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express, but the match ended with no goals scored – 0-0.
Liverpool will be saying goodbye to one special season. The Premier League is finally won by the Reds and that’s a huge moment for the club and the fans. They deserved it! Let’s see if Liverpool can say goodbye to their majestic 2019/20 season with a win against Newcastle United.
