Mainz 05 – Schalke 04

Mainz 05 hosts Schalke 04 at the Opel Arena in a game from the 7th round of the Bundesliga.

Mainz 05 are the team in the worst shape in the Bundesliga right now. They are at the bottom of the league currently being 18th with no points won so far. Mainz are the only team in the league which have not won any points in the first six rounds. It seems that they are going to have some serious problems in the race for survival.

Mainz’ manager Jan-Moritz Lichte has a serious task on his hands. He needs to find a way to bring some confidence to his players after six consecutive defeats. It’s very possible that Mainz’ biggest problem now is psychological before anything else.

Last weekend Mainz 05 paid a visit to Augsburg, but suffered a 1-3 loss. Karim Onisiwo scored the only goal for the visitors, but at the end Mainz were once again on the losing side.

Schalke 04 are not in a much better position than their next opponent at the moment. The Royal Blues are also suffering an awful start of the campaign. Schalke 04 are in the relegation zone again as they are 17th in the league with just two points won so far.

Two draws and four losses – this is Schalke’s poor record from the beginning of the 2020/21 season. They tried changing managers, but so far it’s not giving the results they hoped for.

Last week Schalke won a point at least. The club from Gelsenkirchen hosted Stuttgart at the Veltins-Arena, but the match ended without a winner – 1-1. Malick Thiaw scored Schalke’s only goal in the game.

That’s the preview we could offer you for the Bundesliga game between Mainz 05 and Schalke 04. These two teams are in the relegation zone right now, so the points are equally important for them. Let’s see what’s going to happen.
