Leicester City welcomes Arsenal
Leicester City welcomes Arsenal at the King Power Stadium in an exciting derby clash from the 12th round of the English Premier League. The Foxes are doing better in the league so far, but the Gunners are motivated to improve. Let’s take a look.
It’s obvious that Brendan Rodgers was the right man to replace the sacked Claude Puel in Leicester City in the middle of the previous season. The former Liverpool manager is doing a terrific job so far, because right now the Foxes are third in the Premier League standings with 23 points won – just two points behind the champion Manchester CIty.
Leicester’s current form is also pretty impressive, because the former champions won four of their last five games in the league, only losing against the leader Liverpool at the Anfield. In the previous round Rodgers’ boys played against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park and won the game with goals from Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy.
Against Arsenal Leicester will be without the injured Matthew James, who is still not recovered to play.
Arsenal are 5th in the Premier League standings, being 6 points behind the 4th Chelsea and the Champions League zone. So far we can’t say that Unai Emery’s second season at the club is going very well, which increases the talk of his possible sacking at the end of the campaign. Arsenal are without a win in their last three matches in the league, which speaks of a problem which Emery clearly can’t fix right now.
In their last Premier League fixture Arsenal hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates and lost two points after a 1-1 draw. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang opened the score for the Gunners, but just 15 minutes before the end Raul Jimenez equalised for the Wolves.
One thing is for sure – it won’t be easy for both teams at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. Leicester City are having a wonderful season so far, but surely Arsenal will try to step up and start improving.
