Estonia hosts Germany
Estonia hosts Germany in a match from Group C of the qualifiers for Euro 2020. We are going to take a look at this fixture at the Le Coq Arena in the Estonian capital Tallinn.
For Estonia this qualifying campaign is not going very well. At this moment the Estonians are at the bottom of the group standings, being 5th with just one point won from six games played. This point was won just few days ago, when the Blueshirts travelled to Minsk and made a 0-0 draw against Belarus. Before this, Estonia suffered five consecutive losses in the group, having scored just two goals and conceding 18.
Of course, Estonia are not fighting for anything in this group. Not with the way they are performing. But every nationall team is playing for the prestigie of the nation, so for Estonia it’s going to be a honour to host a team like the German one.
Germany are currently 2nd in this group with 12 points, but having the same amount of points as the leader Netherlands. In other words, the Mannschaft is still in the race for the first place in the group. But they know that they must be flawless and avoid making a mistake until the end of the campaign.
In September Joachim Low’s team achieved a very important win from strategical point of view, beating Northern Ireland in Belfast. The game at Windsor Park ended with a 2-0 win for the four time world champions. Both goals were scored after the break, when Marcel Halstenberg and Serge Gnabry scored for the visitors.
Few days ago Germany played a friendy game against Argentina in Dortmund. Serge Gnabry and Kai Havertz put the Mannschaft ahead, but after the break Germany allowed Argentina to score twice, so the game ended with a 2-2 draw.
That’s what we had to tell you about the European qualifier between Estonia and Germany in Tallinn on Saturday. Good luck.
