Borussia Dortmund hosts Schalke 04

It’s time for the great Ruhr derby again because Borussia Dortmund hosts Schalke 04 at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday. It’s always an amazing thing to see these two teams against each other. This is one of the most exciting local derbies in German football.

Borussia Dortmund are currently sitting at third place in the Bundesliga with 9 points won and a record of three wins and one draw. They are just one point behind the current leader RB Leipzig, so we can say Dortmund’s season on local level is going entirely according to the plan. In their last Bundesliga game Die Borussen achieved an important 1-0 win during the visit to Hoffenheim.

During the week Borussia Dortmund had an unpleasant experience, though. Lucien Favre’s team traveled to face Lazio in the Champions League and the game ended with a 3-1 win for the Italians. Erling Haland’s goal for Dortmund was not enough for avoiding the defeat.

Maybe Lucien Favre would be making some changes in his line-up. Giovanni Reyna, Julian Brandt and Reinier could be returning in the starting eleven after finding themselves on the bench against Lazio. Roman Burki could be starting again on goal after Marwin Hitz’ own goal in the Champions League few days ago.

Schalke 04 are once again having a terrible start of the new season. With just one point won from four matches played the Royal Blues are currently 19th in the standings in the relegation zone. They won their first point in the previous round when they made a 1-1 draw at home against Union Berlin.

Borussia Dortmund against Schalke 04 is one of the most exciting derbies in the Bundesliga. We don’t have any doubts these two teams will give us a great game again. Die Borussen are huge favourites, but in these derbies surprises are bound to happen.
