Barcelona – Rayo Vallecano

The leader in La Liga Barcelona welcomes Rayo Vallecano in a match from the 27th round of the Spanish La Liga.

Barca are the number one favourites for winning the title again. Right now Los Cules are leading the standings in Spain with 60 points, having a healthy 7 points advantage in front of the 2nd Atletico Madrid. Of course, this does not make them one hundred percent champions, but they are very close.

In their last match the Catalans celebrated a 1-0 win over their arch rivals Real Madrid in the El Classico. Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal in the game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Just few days later Barca will have a clash with Olympique Lyonnais in the Champions League, so we shall expect to see Ernesto Valverde making some rotations for the match with Rayo.

Rayo Vallecano on the other hand are 19th in La Liga’s standings, being in the relegation zone of the league. So far Rayo have won just 23 points, having a record of 6 wins, 5 draws and 15 defeats. In their last five games in the league Rayo Vallecano are just terrible, suffering five consecutive losses.

In their last game Michel’s boys hosted Girona at home, but suffered a 0-2 defeat. The Uruguayan striker Christian Stuani scored both goals for Girona in the game. It was a pretty weak performance by Rayo, who also finished the game with 10 men because of Abdoulaye Ba’s red card in the 60th minute.
