Ajax – Tottenham
Ajax will try to finish the job against Tottenham Hotspur when these two sides meet in a second leg from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. Let’s have a talk about this game at the beautiful Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.
Tottenham have a slight advantage after the first leg in London, which ended with a 1-0 win for the Dutch side. The only goal in the game was scored in the first half, when Donny van de Beek ended a great Ajax attack and scored after an assist from Hakim Ziyech. Once again the Dutch side showed some great football and did some very good things at the Wembley.
What Ajax are doing in the Champions League this season is just spectacular. Erik ten Hag’s team eliminated clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus from the competition and now they are very close to reaching the big final in Madrid.
On the other hand Tottenham do not have anything to lose here. They lost the first leg in London, but they still have very big chance to reach the final. They are aware that just one goal in Amsterdam could level them with Ajax again.
Spurs’ biggest problem continues to be the absence of their star striker Harry Kane. The English international injured his ankle during the first game with Manchester City in the 1/4-finals. Kane is still unavaliable for selection, but the Argentine midfielder Erik Lamela could be fit to sit on the bench. The central defender Davinson Sanchez is also missing the game because of an injury.
That’s what’s happening with Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur before their second Champions League 1/2-finals leg at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Wednesday night. One of these two teams will reach the final in Madrid. Let’s see which one is going to do it.
